Got hold of an old scart-monitor, need help connecting!
« on: May 31, 2007, 12:29:22 PM »
It's sort of a funny story cause my mom used to work in a bank many years ago, and they where supposed to start using some kind of very early home-office equipment from Blaupunkt.

I found this package in my parents attic, wich never got used. it's in pristine condition and I packed it out of the boxes for the first time after maybe 25 years.
It includes a proprietary terminal with modem and some ram, keyboard and a very cute monitor. All Blaupunkt stuff, very nice design, must've been expensive at the time.

The small monitor (12-14" perhaps)fits perfect into my a600 setup, but i don't get the screen to show a good picture when hooking it up.
The screen has scart and some kind of din/aux (what's it called?). It also has a button for "Int/Ext Sync", and a wheel for adjusting something. In addition two buttons for contrast and brightness.

I hook up my "a-rgb2scart" cable wich is new and working (pretty sure), to the scartinput on the monitor, and turn everything on.
What happens is the machine loads as usual, with and without
floppies. The picture I get when not using a floppy, is the amiga "V" symbol in colors, but it's hardly a picture at all.
I can see the right colors but the picture is moving pretty fast vertically, and for the most the picture is black.
I try using the Int/Extbutton but no significant change.
I try adjusting the wheel with a screwdriver but no change.
I also try booting with floppies, and can then see the sme picturequality of whatever is inserted.
Like booting up Workbench but not seing anything usable just some flickering, with the right colors.
I can not boot into Early startup, meaning i can't see a thing in there to try pal/ntsc. But I don't think that's the problem either, I think it's more related to wrong pinout on the scart on the cable compared to the input on the monitor, or maybe some sync/frequencyproblems? (Vertically that would be as these monitors sure support 50Hz?

Anyone got a clue?

@edit

Just read some documentation for this stuff, found out that the whole system (decoder/modem and monitor) are 60Hz.

It also says that the scart-input on the monitor is a "standardcontact input for RGB" and that the Ext/Int Sync switch is for switching between internal or external syncronization (obviously).
The DIN/AUX input is for monochrome (green) display.
So then, the only way to use this monitor would have to be through NTSC on the a600? Will check if I can get it work tonight..
