Amiga 3000 Flicker Fixer problem?
« on: May 15, 2007, 10:21:43 AM »
Hi everyone!
My name is Luis Fernandes, and I just registered on the forum.

I have an Amiga 3000 computer that cannot display certain resolutions. A long time ago a technician told me that it was the flicker fixer chip that was damaged. I just found a flicker fixer chip for sail on the net, and I would like to know if I should buy it.

A damaged flicker fixer chip can be the responsable for the problems I told?

By the way I’m from Portugal... sorry for my bad English!

Thanks,
Luís Fernandes

AFAIK there are resolutions that Amber cannot show, probably non 15khz ones and super-hires.
The only spanish amiga news web page/club: Club de Usuarios de Amiga de Zaragoza (CUAZ)

What resolutions?

I *think* some resolutions cannot be scandoubled / deinterlaced and do not pass through the AMBER connector.

In addition to that your monitor may not be able to show these 'exotic' resolutions. If you own a 15-31 kHz Monitor (true multiscan), you can try switching off the flicker fixer and see what happens.

The circuitry lives right next to the clock battery, which might be leaking after all these years - better take a look inside the case and check for damage!
