Compact Flash Card trouble
« on: May 03, 2007, 07:32:57 PM »
I am asking for help about my compact flash card. Recently i bought a PCMCIA CF adaptor for my A1200 (68030 Magnum MKII, HD, 64mb ram). All well until i discovered that i can't do anything with it. Having installed  the drivers i waited for the respective CF icon to appear on the WB screen but guess what....nothing. Do i have to blame the hardware or me for not doing sth right. I forgot to mention that the card that i tested is a mint - never used before 1GB kingston and the WB is 3.1. Nothing new appears in the WORK or DEVS drawers. Do i have to "format" the card in the Amiga way in order to use it. Sorry for asking about basics but i want to make this thing work.
Vampirized A500....one hell of a classic

Have you partitioned the CF card in HDToolBox?
Code 6502 asm or... DIE!!

Hi,

Unfortunately no-one has yet been able to solve the problem of getting an Amiga formatted CF card to work on the PCMCIA slot of an A1200 Desktop. But here is what works a PC formatted one if that is of any use to you  :-)

i.e.

Fat95 in Workbencch:L
CF0 in Workbench:Devs/DOSDrivers
compactflash.device in Workbench:Devs

I've been trying to get the CF card to work as a simple removable Amiga formatted device like a Zip or Jaz drive, but without having to go near HDToolBox.

Can anyone be of help? :-D

Thanks :-)

This gives the report "ERROR drive CF0: is aready mounted".

I gave Prepcard a go. It finds the card correctly as 'CF Card 64MB Version 1.1' but it cannot set up the card saying "Unable to prepare card: Card is write-protected".

I've also given HDToolBox a go. It can only find the card if 'compactflash.device' is in Workbench:Devs and it appears to install and partition the card ok if the mountlist of CF0 is set to L:fat95. But with the mountlist of CF0 set as L:FastFileSystem HDToolBox cannot see it :-?

Prehaps we can make further changes to this mountlist of CF0??

/* compactflash.device $VER: 1.21 (19.10.2002) */
/* fat95 file system by Torsten Jager */

Some cards have a "write-protect" switch on it.

If not, open a cli and "ls cf0:", plus try unprotect the the card via software.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.
