Accessing my my router's config with IBrowse
« on: April 13, 2007, 03:59:42 PM »
Hi,
This is annoying rather than a crisis. I want to access the configuration pages of my adsl modem/router (USR 9600?) but although AWeb gets in no problem, IBrowse, my browser of choice gets nowhere. The router uses a password system, which I`ve got, and which I did have stored in IBrowse. I deleted it in case that was the problem.

I think IBrowse is maybe remembering something that it needs to forget, if that makes sense.  :)

Does anyone know what setting I need to change?

I`ve certainly accessed it before with IBrowse (latest version). And I`m using an 060 1200.

Cheers for any advice.

Could you get a *little* bit more detailed ? There are no clairvoyants here, AFAIK.

Bye,
Thomas

No clairvoyants and all these predictions?!  :-)

Okay, sorry. The modem's config screens are in html format which I gather is fairly common. Its a USR 9300 by the way. Although I can connect to it with Aweb, or the stinking pc for that matter, I get nothing but a Timeout with IBrowse 2.4.

Its not a problem at the moment particuarly because everything is working well, but its obviously something I would like to fix.

I'm pretty sure I need to rest something in IBrowse's settings and that this happened before with 2.3 - but I don't remember the details clearly.

Are there other details that would help?

Thanks.

have you replaced the web based modem userID and/or password lately? upgraded?

All you need is the IP address of your router. If this fails, try to delete/rename the file "Passwords" in IB dir.

Here with ibrowse 2.4 i can reach edimax/smc/3 com router with my miggy.

Problem should be in your tcp/ip stack, or try to reinstall ibrowse.

Timeout problems? I used to get those on other sites when I had MiamiSSL improperly installed. If your router uses some kind of security layer, that might be your problem.

Could you access it with IBrowse 2.3 then?

Does IBrowse 2.4 get as far as asking for the password, and if so, how does it ask?  (e.g. HTML based form in the IB window, or a separate HTTP authentication requester).

Well, it uses a password system.... oddly enough I got into the config pages last night with IBrowse. No restrictions, I was all over the place once I had cached the password. This was after looking through IBrowse's settings, but I don't think I changed much. This morning, nothing doing it won't let me in again.

AWeb still goes straight in - and on everything else IBrowse is great, so its a funny one. Using Genesis by the way.

Got it!

All it was, was the proxy needed to be disabled.

ARGHHH!

:-)

Thank you for your patience.
