html in email's
« on: March 22, 2007, 06:48:56 AM »
I am getting more and more emails with html code in it.
I am using YAM on my pegasos now.
Is there a way to filter the code out or use it like it is meant to be?

I've stopped using emails for a few years. Went back to carrier pigeons and smoke signals. Works like a charm!

I thought most HTML formatted emails were sent as multipart messages?  One part with HTML formatting, and the other in plain text?  Of course, this is decided by the client which sent the email, but I thought it was "common practice" to do so.

Maybe you can put a little procmail rule on your server?  Pass the email though a little Perl script or something which strips the HTML tags.
Code 6502 asm or... DIE!!

Well I used simplemail before YAM.
But on pegasos my main machine it has some bugs..
No printing off emails, columns are at smallest and not snapshotting in an other size.
And you have to doubleckick the incoming column to see something.
So that is why I switched to yam.
Although I believe it is a mui thing with simplemail and as for printing on pegasos ...a nightmare.
As soon as you can print with one program other program refuses to print..

Filter out? Dunno 'bout that one...

Use it like it is meant to be?

HTMLread!

I use it & it works elegantly.

I am disappointed that PC users send a vast majority of e-mails with unnecessary HTML code.  Most of them don't know that they are or understand that they are, which has the net effect of wasting bandwith.  Now multiply all that bandwith times the number of the PC users that send HTML code in addition to the text as well.

What are you bragging about? That someone uses HTML, the de facto language used overall the net to format their letters? What would they use? I wonder why you don't start a campaign so that forums, and all the net in the process to use only TXT. What you seem to be mistaken is the bad usage of with HTML actual usage.

It's about users, it's mainly about people, and people usually formats their letters, ok you both perpahs like the txt formatation more, you seem to have no option at all but read txt mails, but don't blame the world for driving a car whereas you choose deliberately to go on foot...
