VMWare and Amiga Forever (Mouse Control Problem)
« on: March 26, 2007, 09:29:24 PM »
Hi there,

Just for fun, I tried to load Amiga Forever 6.0 on VMWare Workstation 5.5.

Well, the Knoppix "boot from CD" version of Amiga Forever booted perfectly within the VMWare virtual machine.

Only one problem though, once I clicked the screen to activate the mouse, it rocketed right out of sight and I couldn't get it back to work in the virtual machine.

Any ideas as to why? Perhaps I'm the only one silly enough to have tried this...I was just evaluating VMware with Ubuntu when it dawned on me to see if it would load AF.

By the way, AROS loads and runs very smoothly in VMWare. I even installed it on the virtual HD with no hickups.

Big fan of VMware.  Have wondered how to go about compiling VmwareTools for AROS, assumed you'd have to speak directly to VMware, then Uni. returned...

Would be neato.  I didn't think of using AmigaForever in VMware, might give that a go (if someone fixes your problem...).

Will follow this thread.

Hi there,

I thoroughly enjoyed my experimentation with VMWare. It's neat to be able to play with alternative OSes without messing up the PC.

I'm thinking of purchasing VMWare next month. I might even be able to take a class for it at work.

VMWareTools? Haven't thought of that for AROS...I wonder if the company is open to ideas...
