the petition over hardware was for companies that have hardware that Ainc wont give a licence too fro maybe daft reasons

I have not seen anyone with a PPC motherboard who has been turned down by Amiga inc... have you?
if the Sam gets launched but for some reason Amiga inc try and stop hyperion or whoever from getting OS4 on to it then that is the time to do another 20 questions thing with Amiga asking why etc but that is second guessing something that hasnt even happened yet.
If your thinking of those PPC developers boards then dont, they are not suitable for use as a computer, they just are not.

Oli I thought you may have seen this more than anyone

Nope, never needed to speak to them, most people wont, its not like all software programmers have to get the software checked by a.org before they can launch it or hardware guys before they launch a zorro card.
I did e-mail Amiga a few owners back about getting a Zorro ID (Was a CAT's number) but never got an e-mail back, I posted on the a.com forum and then just left it, I will just allocate one myself when the time comes.  :-D

As a side note if Ainc grant you a license and you have firmware issues and then if Hyperion can help with this process.

If you had firmware problems you could hire Hyperion without A.inc, the firmware is Uboot, which isnt owned by Amiga in any way shape or form. Hyperion are not bound to Amiga for anything but OS4 so taking on a firmware job would be fine.
Altering OS4 to run on it would be ok, selling that may not, I dont know what the contract is.. only Amiga and Hyperion do.

the abilty to produce a finished product that had native OS support on launch in a reduced time this surely is a good thing for everyone.

The problem is your handing amiga inc a petition saying licence this hardware when there is no hardware to licence.
We dont even know if the Sam board makers will apply to Amiga inc for a licence, they may not even try and just expect a.inc to come to them or just to launch a compatiable program to run on the Sam.

Anyway Im sat at work when I should be sat at home, I intend to correct this now. :-)

PS: they are saying your beating a dead horse, not a dead amiga user... horses taste better

GOD!!

This is getting pathetic!
Here's a guy with all good intentions for what he believes is a way to get Amiga back in the game, and what happens??
He gets attacked by the very people he is trying to help...

I for one CAN see the Amiga regain it's consciousness.

But then....

It's that simple!!

Pardon my French, but I thought we were better than this over here.... ;-)

is that a picture of you beatin an amiga user while he's down?

Obviously your not fimiliar with AO.  Vast majority of us posters have become rapidly bored beyond tears everytime someone thinks they have a grand solution to save OS4.  Unfortunetly, their hearts maybe in the right place, but their knowledge of actual situations is minimal.

The only real choice you have is to sit back and hope for Amiga Inc to come out with OS5.  OS4 is so hobbled with legal issues, it's going no where fast.  The rest of us are doing what we can to get our favorite OS (be it AOS classic, AROS or MOS) moving forward.

I just like the beating of the horse. :)

But as far as this topic goes....

I remember many years back when my brother in law bought his 1ghz AMD new in 2000-2001, and sorry to say, alot has not happened since...

I posted on some other thread about what Amiga would have to do to win many users from the College side..

1.Powerpoint (Which I said Scala may be able to replace)
2.Word Processor (This can be achieved)
3.Web browser w/flash,java support (Many bored college kids sit back and watch videos, play games online.)

Finally, 4.World of Warcraft (Since many people play that)

But when you put amiga into all of this, then it basically puts itself in competition with others.

Closest I experienced to an Amiga was Ubuntu Linux, which took away the windows feel, but still felt bloated with the times it took to boot.  Fair enough.

Im tired.  Anyone here want to play some good classic quake sometime?  :-D

Im game.

Mine!  :-D

@Lawless PPC

If you are interested in petitions (whether they work or not its good to have a desire for change at least I think).

Here are two already established ones you can consider signing:

http://www.petitiononline.com/os4dist/petition.html

http://www.petitiononline.com/amigaos/

Yes the second one is 5 years old.  Hence part of the reason why people say they won't work.

As for voicing an opinion.  If you feel the desire to I'd encourage you to email Amiga's chairman at penttikouri AT earthlink DOT NET and the President at bill AT AMIGA DOT COM.

Also sign up for a forum login at Amiga.com and post in their own forums.  And as people mention amigaworld.net is probably a better place to get into these kinds of threads.  Also google for Moo Bunny, some interesting info is sometimes posted there, but it also gets very nasty at times too.

I think for this site most people prefer not to get into such stuff here.  Hope this helps you in some way.
