What ever happened to the Siamese? I remember that you could connect an Amiga and a PC together (Via serial or network..?) and then all Amiga Gfx functions would output to a window on a Windows desktop and the Amiga would get all it's inputs (Mouse and keyboard...?) from windows...

What a great idea...  :-)

-EDIT- ok, I've jsut found this page, but I seem to be the first vistor ever (according to the hit counter)!!!!

On the top of the page it says last updated in 1997. I think it's rather dead :-|.

Well, I used Siamese 3.5 for years, and I have to say I didn't like it.

The SiameseRTG sucked. It only supported CGX 2 apps. Apart from workbench, only one prog I know could use it, and that was Visage. Not even datatypes could output 16 bit with it. The RTG stopped working with OS3.5 anyway.

Then there was the access to the PC's files. Samba really does this job better, and more flexibly. Samba is also a lot more powerful and secure.

And Siamese would stop working if you went offline for any reason, e.g. if you loaded a game that didn't multitask. You had to reboot to get it working again.

The only good things were the shared clipboard, control over the Windows MCI, and the ARexx port. But even these had limited use, and nowhere near useful enough to justify the high price of the package.

I'd have to give the Siamese a big thumbs down. It wasn't very good at the time and is almost useless now.
