The celebration which we still observe (and call christmas) is actually a Pagan feast of mid winter... Thus if we want to find the true spirit of "christmas", we should be feasting, giving presents and having a good time with friends/family...
The christian imageary was tacked on much later, fortunatelly the Pagan imageary is still far more present in our minds than the middle eastern junk of the deluded.
