What Do You Need?
« on: December 17, 2006, 08:15:07 PM »
Demo coding is always fun, but can sometimes be monotonous.  To get some variety, I want a project to fiddle with a little now and then.  No promises about completion, but the goal is an open-source, free product for all classic Amigas.

The only question is: What should I make?  What do you miss on the miggy?

I've been thinking about writing a BitTorrent or DC++ client, but I don't know how many will need it.  Good alternatives probably already exist.

It must be a reasonable project, not porting Firefox or writing a kickstart replacement.

If you have any ideas, let me know :-)
Code 6502 asm or... DIE!!

A nice bittorent client with a user friendly gui for classic Amiga's would be on the top of my wishlist  :-)

And decoders for .ape, .flac and .shn lossless audio files

A bunch of ol' A500's

Since you mention it, we have enough bitorrent clients but there are no DC++ clients for AOS/AOS4/MOS. So, making one is definitely a good idea. Or perhaps an EMule client for AOS.. We lack this one too.

Iirc, Frogger can play WMV files, except of the latest WMV3 codec. But i don't think that classic Amigas are fast enough to play WMV3 files anyway.
As for a converter, we just need an up-to-date FFMpeg compile.
