If you can use s-video (Your tv has s-video input) You will find the amiga's signal in the av/aux channel. (so not chanel 36 or anything else.)

If you use areial/rf input probably you can find it in channel 36.

If not, try to find the 520's switcher. It has two option something like 5,5H and 6Hz i think. Try to switch to the opposite side.

If you have both S-video and RF, you can use s-video for better quality.

Derringer3,

you ment COMPOSITE, didn't you? A520 has no S-VIDEO output unless you have performed hack operations on MC1377P encoder chip inside the modulator.

Hi chain,
I have tried to tune the TV but it does'nt want to know.On channel 5 there is some activity going on but I cant fine tune it.To be honest the picture is so bad you cant even tell if it is the workbench or not.On the A1200 there is a fine tune screw but the 500 does not seem to have one.This is weird.If I cant find a channel does this mean that the 500 is faulty?

does the floppy drive click? if so, its probably OK.

I'd suggest you connect Amiga using composite signal, if your TV has it. Skip the A520 modulator and use mono composite to test.. later try color one.
Better sorry than worry.

@Lockon_15

Yeah, you're right. Since most of the modern VGA-card has an S-video output, and almost all is bundled with s-video-composite cable, I mostly use the word of S-video for both.

@davewb : The a500 has Composite port. (Monochrome only) So if you have the same in your tv, or in your Video/DVD player
you can see, that is your a500 is working or not.
