My A1200's disk-drive cable
« on: March 26, 2007, 04:55:38 PM »
Hello.
I'm getting some sporadic "df0:unreadable" while accessing floppy disks. It seems that my disk drive cable is dying because if i move it a little, i can access the disks again. :-(
So, i need to ask you guys this: Is there an identical cable from the pc universe that i could easily find it in any computer shop?

Sure, i will order the cable from you eventually, but i hope there is a more cheap solution for me as i'm currently broke and not in the UK.
I understand that it's a longshot for such cable to exist in the pc world but who knows..

Any floppy cable which has a pin to pin connection will work, but if it's a short one you are after, you will need to move one of the connectors yourself to get the desired length and cut of the rest.

If the cable is long enough and with standard IDC connectors, you can shorten it a little and make those connectors to have a new, fresh connection. Pushing them into the ribbon is best done with a vise. Done it several times.

Yes, I agree with that. If you can get the connectors off and move them it should work fine. I did that when I made all the leads up for my A1200t  :-D
