I have to respectfully disagree.  I'm not telling anyone here anything new but just for discussion, let's review a few things:

1.  Ebay is an auction site whose prices are driven by bidder willingness to pay.  If you want something bad enough, money is no object.
2.  One man's trash is another man's treasure.  While there are newer products to be had, for whatever reason, someone out there wants this particular item so see item 1 above.
3.  To each their own.

That being said, let me add that as the supply of (working) spare components dries up, prices will go up.  It is simply the law of supply and demand.  The Picasso IV was (IMO) *THE* finest audio / video combo card of its day for the classic Amiga and many people seem to agree.  They want what they knew, not necessarily what is available now.  You can find several positive reviews on the net for all things Picasso but you may not find a review for "product X" which is still in production.

It is purely subjective.  I would not pay the price listed for this particular item but I would not hold it against the seller or the buyer at auction close.  The seller naturally wants as much money as they can get, considering that any amound will be less than what the item cost when new so they are losing any way you look at it (the law of new vs. used).

It is the buyer that sets the price (again, see item #1).

Just my opinion.  :-)

Also it's modular design meaning you can add a TV and sound card all from the one Zorro slot, neat and unrivaled to this day!

I sold a SX-64 about two months ago and the buyer only wanted to pay for ground shipping with no tracking availible. Now eight weeks later he says he has not received item. I told him to wait another couple weeks, or I guess I will have to refund him or have my 100% feedback marked.

I don't know.  If he insisted on shipping it that way, refusing your offers of using a more secure method, then it is the BUYER'S risk, not yours.  Hopefully you kept the receipt from when you sent it at the post office.  Just to prove you paid for postage on such and such a date.  It is up to HIM to contact the post office and find out where his item is.

Also, surface (via boat) mail can take three months internationally.

I think you should not have to re-imburse the buyer for a shipping risk he/she insisted on taking, especially considering registered mail was offered and refused.

Heck, he/she might even have been trying to set you up.  The buyer might actually have the SX-64 but is just claiming it was lost.  No way to tell because of the way they chose to ship the item.

I agree. If he didn't want to pay for insured shipping, that's his problem. You should definitely NOT refund it. Sod feedback!
