In the line of FIRE...
« on: December 08, 2006, 11:56:27 PM »
Looks like bush fire season has started early this year, with vengeance too. Glad I'm no where near the towns that are likely to be affected. However, if one of the local arsonists decides to light a fire somewhere along the creek out back, the north wind will blow it right to my place and then the proverbial will hit the fan. Look here and you will see that a fair chunk of the state is literally going up in smoke.

Edit...I'm heading out with my cameras soon to get some snaps of the think smoke that has settled over Melboure, I'll either post them on a.org or put them on pbase.

Bloody hell, mate...are you trying to get me to choose NZ over Oz?
I tell you what though, a fire is a serious thing. My folks in the US had a narrow escape in Colorado when those wild fires raged so badly (either last year or the year before). They almost had to be evacuated.
Stay safe.

Just got back from my little photo outing;

This is a shot of the creek behind my house, as you can see, there is quite a lot of dry vegitation. It really wouldn't take much to set the whole thing alight. Please note that the fires are buring several hundred kilometres away.
