Bit OT: the quality of the Spanish postal services

A month ago I bought an item on EBay from somebody in Spain and I've still not received it. The seller strikes as me being very honest and helpful and according to him/her the Spanish postal services can be very slow/sloppy. I was wondering if anybody can comment on this?

Not had any personal experiences, however I can recall a thread or two here on a.org that mentioned similar problems with the Spanish postal service, if I get some spare time I'll see if I can have a look.

I live in Spain. Here the postal service "Correos" use  to delay a lot the shipments, but it's random: some times is ray-fast and other it seems that they use turtles to send the packages.
Despite of that, mail arrives sooner or later...

I use to ebay with many spanish people and I've never had a problem with them.

I can only say that it sure as hell can take time when sending for example a postcard from spain to norway. In some cases it arrived over a month after we came home!

Sucks big time.

While they can be professional and lighting-fast on delivery, at the same time they´re highly unreliable service with unconstant results.

I live in spain and they had made me lots of ******* things, like reown the packet ( that means that the packet never arrives ), deliver an empty box, and even (its funny) stole only one part of the content ( In example, i have been stolen some of the CDs one guy sent me. The postal worker opened the packet and selected the CDs he want, leaving there the ones he dislike! )

A friend that works on the postal service told me that its even more common on international shipments.

Conclusion. Avoid it while possible.

Spanish postal service sucks big time.

Always use certified/secure mail. At least if the item doesn't arrive you'll get the cost of the packet.

I bought an scandoubler from Netherlands almost two months ago and it hasn't arrived yet.

This is the last time I use non secure mail.

Unfortunately postmans stealing packets ar not uncommon in spain :-(

And this is not restricted to the official postal service "Correos". 3rd party companies also steal packets :-(

Use secure mail. At least if the item doesn't arrive the seller will get the money back and will be able to refund you the money. In addition to that is you use secure/certified mail you can also know where the packet is located...


I'm quite pissed as some {bleep} will have opened my scandoubler box, he won't have any clue about wtf it is and will have end up in the trashcan  :madashell:  :pissed:

My parents live in Spain, and they were recently commenting to me about the slow Spanish postal service. They also used to work for the UK post office, and tell me they used to get people complaining to them about post to and from Spain arriving late.

I know it doesn't really help you with your situation, but it may be some consolation to know you're not the only one.

Thanks for the replies folks, it strengthened my trust that the seller is speaking the truth =).

I guess I never realised that postal services in European countries can be the standard of some backwater bananarepublic.
