DKB and zipdrive
« on: May 26, 2003, 05:15:47 PM »
I had a DKB harddrive controller installed four years ago. When I tried to hook my zip up to the external scsii it did not read at all. Does it need to be hooked up internally to the ribbon? Or did the installer not install properly? I have not backed up in four years.
Thanks,
John Paul

The DKB does not like active termination, like that built into the zip drive.  You need to use passive termination, or the drive needs no termination if it is NOT the last device on the chain.

Also, you need to make sure you have the latest fastfilesystem in L:

Finally make sure you have selected the right device #, 5 or 6 on the zip drive and your Zip mount list refers to that number...

Good Luck

Yes.... all of the above are correct.

You may also have to go in to your DKB HD Toolbox and make sure you format the zip disk and get a valid Amiga RDB on it.

It may not always properly recognize disk changes, too.
c:diskchange seemed to crash it a bit, as I recall.  :-P
