Problems running Simon The Sorceror CD32 on an A1200
« on: September 28, 2006, 09:19:08 PM »
Setup: Amiga 1200, Blizzard 1230 MKIV, MMU, 16MB RAM, 40GB 2.5" HD, 3.1 ROM...

I have tried starting the game from Workbench, from cli with nothing loaded at all, tried disabling the B1230, I have started it with setpatch running... setpatch not running... tried with joymouse, without joymouse... tried increasing the stack to insane amounts (and some more sane amounts)... always the same result... a black screen not covering the entire screen in the background... it loads a while, then crashes...

Thing is, I have gotten it to work before... I just don't remember how I did it. I don't think there is any WHDLoad version available, but even if there were I would not use it since I wouldn't be able to preload the entire game (=tons of black screens everywhere whenever the game wants to access something from the HD).

Any suggestions?
Amiga 1200, Mirage Tower, PC-Key 1200, Blizzard 1260/50, SCSI Kit, 256MB RAM, 40GB HD, Mediator SX, Soundblaster 128, Voodoo 3 and Realtek 8139.

The CD32 version of Simon is notorious for not running on anything other than a CD32. Above all, the Amiga needs to be set to PAL.

Odd... I know I have played the game on my A1200 from HD and when I did I had no real problems with getting the game to run... I do remember that the game crasched when I wanted to save, though (which doesn't feel that strange since I did not even try to emulate the nonvolaite.library). When running on my SquirrelSCSI from CD with the included CD32 emulator it worked just fine, though...
