Any Amiga users in Las Vegas?
« on: June 24, 2006, 07:25:12 AM »
Would anyone be willing to do a little detective work? :inquisitive:

Over at the www.Imagine3D.org, Johan has made a petition to Impulse to see what is going to be done with the Win side of Imagine3D. So far a letter sent to the address

Impulse Inc.
7250 Peak Drive #112
Las Vegas, NV 89128

has come back as a nonexistant address even though they are listed in the yellow pages. So, if there are any Amigoids in Vegas who are in the area, would you be willing to go in the building and see if they are still physically there? If you can talk to a human, that would be a bonus. Thanks.

I have family there that are currently in Denver.  If you havent found someone next week and I'll see if I can convince one of my cousins to go get us a picture as long as its not in a bad side of town.  If you'd told me in April, I'd have found out the whole story, because someone at NAB would have known.

I've been a member off and on for... 9 years now (I bought my 2nd Amiga shortly after the Gateway purchase and found amiga.org soon thereafter)?  I very, very rarely post and only occasionally stop by to see if anything new has come up.  That leads to me occasionaly forgetting my account info and having to start over, not that I mind.

To answer the question at hand...

That address does not exist.  It's an office park, and suite #112 does not exist.  Based on the layout, I doubt that it ever did.  I don't believe there was a #212 either.  I walked over the entire place and it's predominantly real estate related.  If I have the time I'll try going back during business hours to see if anyone there has ever heard of Impulse.  Sorry for the bad news.

Oh wow! Wait till I tell the others! :-o If you could go back later and confirm, that would be excellent. As far as has been known, that's been the Impulse Inc address.

See guys! It's not just technology like the Amiga that gets shafted. Even decent programs like Imagine get ruined by the jerks who took it over to the Win side. At least we have people on the Amiga side who still want to develop it. Thanks for sleuthing Justicar.

I've finally had the time (cough...and remembered...cough) to go back during the day.

Yes, there was in fact a Suite 112 occupied by Impulse.  They left and some real estate outfit took over the space (knocking down the wall and enlarging their original suite).

Sorry, no forwarding address or any other sort of contact info.

If anybody happens to know any names associated with Impulse, I'd be happy to look around and see if they're still in town.

Ok Justicar or Opus, here's a message on the Imagine3d.org site, good luck finding the people he mentions, if you feel like becoming a detective for a day. :-D

Two names that may be of help. I know that Scott Kirvan is still around, a web search will probably pull him up somewhere. He was coding for Impulse for a while. And Rick Rodriguez in Miami was in tight with Impulse too. Also, Martin Hash of Animation Master fame was in good with Impulse.

My guess is that one of two things happened. There was a family split up, and some are possibly still in Vegas producing graphics for casinos. Or, they have gone on to other things, gone their separate ways, etc.

IMO, Imagine is abandonware, plain and simple. It's no longer a matter of beating a dead horse, it's trying to find the skeleton.

That does not mean that I am not going to keep using it. But any hope of further development is unlikely, I think.
