Which NEC monitor???
« on: September 05, 2006, 06:43:21 PM »
Hi!
I remember reading a long time ago about some old NEC monitors and their abilities to handle properly all Amiga video modes including native video modes
If anybody has one of this monitor working with their Amigas (i dont have the space to have an Amiga monitor & a "PC" monitor to use with my graphics card), could you tell me the exact model??

Kind Regards

Hi,

you could use a NEC 3D as an Amiga monitor. It is able to display all Amiga modes -- as I know -- I don't own one by myself, but was looking for one at eBay a while ago before I got presented a 17" monitor (attached to a flickerfixer).

I've heard the NEC 3D would do the job.  I haven't heard of any others nor have I tried it myself.

The NEC MultiSync 3D is an excellent monitor for Amiga modes.
I have several on my bench, and really enjoy them. It is a 15 pin connector (like that on the A3000).

As others have said, the NEC 3D works, but there was at least one other that works as well.  The older model NEC 2A works with Amiga frequencies and vga from a PC.

How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Thanks for the feedback guys

One other question, tough
Waht about a Nec 5D? Its a NEC Multisync 5D, 20 inches of screen. I guess its the same that the ·d multisync, only bigger???
Anyone have used this model with an Amiga, using all graphic modes on it??

Thanks in advance

@Amiga4K: does it handle all Amiga native modes? Because on the internet i found this:
Model:           MULTISYNC 3D
Max Resolution:     1024 x 768 (i)
Sync Type:         Composite, Seperate
H Freq/ V Freq:    31-38 Khz / 55-90 Hz
Tube Manufacturer:
Monitor Type:   Multisync/Multiscan

So i dont see the 15 khz Amiga modes listed... i want to be 100% sure before buying one of this...since my idea is to use a single monitor solution on my Amigas.. (im tired of switching between 1942 monitor an my Viewsonic monitor...)

@Gavilan, The answer is YES!

Proof from my bench: The A3000 has 15Khz and 31Khz video. The NEC3D MultiSync has a standard 15 pin connector. The NEC3D connects to the 31Khz port and presto -- works.
With the 15 to 23 pin adapter (CBM 390682-01 which has an logic board 715A444-1 with chip MC74HCT08AN FFR9240) the NEC3D can be pulled into the 15Khz port and presto -- works.

What I truly detest is NEC-Mitsubushi protraying their legacy monitor page with only 30Khz minimum frequencies. I do not belittle you for questioning me. I enjoy being challenged.
Won\'t hide my location.

I might be able to get one here, very difficult to find, but also cheaper!!!
So i might end up with a very nice 1 single monitor for all my amiga needs!!

Thanks a lot for the quick response!!!

The NEC MultiSync 3Ds version works too.  IIRC the MultiSync II (a bit harder to find) will work as well.
