A2000 keyboards
« on: August 23, 2006, 02:12:35 AM »
I'm looking for a replacement keyboard for an A2000 and was wondering how well the PC keyboard adapters work.  I've been looking at used keyboard but for they seem to go in the $20-$30 + shipping range.  For that much money I'm thinking a PC keyboard adapter might be the better way to go.

Software hut sells the Lyra keyboard adapter for $40

Anyone use one of these?  Whats your thoughts?

I guess thats my point..

$30 - $40 for a used 15+ year-old amiga keyboard.. or $40 for a PC keyboard adapter that I can use a wide variety of cheap, shiny new keyboards with.

I have a Mr Hardware PC keyboard adaptor that works darn well on my CD32, and will work just as well on an A200 with the Larger DIN adaptor. It comes with one. it works with wireless keyboards

But one thing is for sure...it aint no Amiga keyboard. It feels different......but nevertheless quite usefull.  now a Cocolino/Topolino/Mr Myza Mouse adaptor.......thats cool!  I got one.  it uses even wireless mice. and probably with those PowerPoint Pointers that can be used with SCALA for live presentations or Businiess proposals.

CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

If I get the keyboard adapter, I want to get one of those old school mechanical clicky keyboards.  Like an IBM M series or a focus 2001/6000.  Those keyboards were awesome for banging on.  I was going to try to snag a Northgate Omnikey off ebay, but those things go for big $

I couldn't agree more!

I have a Lyra keyboard dongle since my old A2000 keyboard went belly-up years ago and it works just fine with no problems.  When I saw someone on eBay selling about five or six A2000 keyboards, I jumped on one for what I consider a reasonable price.  I had forgotten how wonderful those old Amiga keyboards feel!  I would love to get another and then get an adapter to use it on my work PC!
