PrepCard tool question...
« on: August 20, 2006, 02:20:02 AM »
Hey people,

Do PCMCIA ethernet cards need to be prepared or something?

I am trying to get my A1200 online. I have a 3Com PCMCIA card (model 3CXE589ET). The A1200 was purchased with OS3.9 installed and I found it has AmiTCP, Aweb3SE and Genesis.
When I go into the PrepCard tool I get a prompt telling me:
"Warning!!! Card Information appears to be CORRUPT!
Recomment: Prepare card before use".
I have options to prepare it as a Disk or System Ram. Now under the Product field it does recognise the card as a 3Com Megahertz 589E, Version 4.1 TP/BNC Lan PC Card. But all the other fields indicate that the OS has no idea what the card is.

A1200, 030-50mhz/64megs ram,
4gig HD, OS3.9

PrepCard only should be used for RAM cards. Just configure your TCP/IP stack and you should be fine.
