HELLO!
« on: August 15, 2006, 04:33:46 AM »
What a great forum!  Back in 1987, I was 17, I bought my first Amiga 1000.  I think it was $1200.  It was hot off the presses!!  I remember visiting this independent computer store almost every day looking at it until I finally had the cash to buy.

Unfortunately, it seemed that everything I wanted to do with it required the 512K RAM expansion, and I was tapped out of cash. So after the Amiga speaking novelty wore off, I sold it for rims to put on my 1984 T-Bird.  Nice trade huh?

Anyhow, I've always wanted another one and have become somewhat of a collector of vintage gaming systems and computers over the years.  I'm looking to buy another A1000 not only for the personal nostalgia, but also I'd like to explore its capability a little more than I did way back when.  I know, most will say screw the A1000, go for the A500 or better, but again, there are multiple reasons as to why I want another, and its not completely operational.  I have a PowerMac G5 for my day to day needs.  This is more collector/hobbiest at best.

If anyone knows where I can get a good copy of the A1000 that hasn't yellowed incesently, I'd be interested.  I'm also interested in getting an original box with inserts for it as well.  If these items aren't boxed my wife give me grief about my hobby.  Not that she doesn't already, but even more so.

Great to join the forum and I look forward to many more posts once I get settled with my new system.  Hopefully it won't be too long before I can get my hands on one.

Thanks!
