Hello! After many years hiatus I've gotten back into this fascinating machine. When I was a kid I was lucky enough to have an A1000 with which to play all sorts of fun games such as Marble Madness, Sidewinder, Xenon, the Adventure Construction Set, and non-game software such as Deluxe Paint.
Unfortunately my parents decided to get rid of it in the early 90s so they gave it to one of the local Amiga user group members who promised it was going to a good home. A few years later one of my coworkers was getting rid of his A1000 and, rather than throw it away, he donated it to me. :-)
It has 512K of chip ram, an external 1010 disk drive, and whole lot of floppy disks (many of which are bad :-( ). I got the neat little program Amiga Explorer so I was able to save a lot of the data.
Projects for the future include: putting Kick 1.3 on a disk so I can try it out (in the future I may want to put Kick 2.x in ROM somehow), upgrading the memory, and possibly adding a hard disk.
Does anyone have information on how to add 512K or 1MB of additional memory? I'm thinking about designing a board that uses cache SRAM, but perhaps there is a much simpler way.
As for the hard drive, I will need some kind of IDE controller, which IIRC requires Kick 1.3 or greater. Any ideas or is Ebay my best bet?
