Only card I know of that can take that CPU is the Apollo1260. The rest have libs that count on the 060 have internal FPU/MMU so when it doesn't and things need calculated it goes crashing down.

None will due to the Memory controller designs.

Apollo 1260 will run at 80MHz because it has a better memory controller design, but it only supports 64Meg of RAM and the SCSI is poor compared to B1260.

I am just waiting for the compatibility of the PowerVixxen from ACK Software Controls before buying any A1200 accelerator. We know it's not 100% vapourware as they have just bought a large number of A1200 edge connectors from Individual Computing.

Do your homework man, we are now talking about the MC68060RC50 Rev6 which DOES have both FPU and MMU and will go in ANY Amiga accelerator and IS capable of upto 100MHz.
Unfortunately all Amiga accelerators use relatively slow DRAM and the FPGA/CPLD memory controllers were never designed to handle those rates.

I once bought a Cyberstorm MKII. It had an 68EC060 on it. It worked, but many applications didn't. I replaced it with a full 68060. All problems were gone.

this got me wondering about what kind of logic would be needed to de-couple the memory bus from the cpu bus, to run the two sync/async to each other a-la 486DX2 - so could have 100Mhz 060, 50Mhz memory.

Then i was thinking of the BPPC. i have a 200Mhz PPC, which is derived from a 3x multiplier of a 66Mhz bus,
but the 040 is a 1/2x (or 060, a 1x) multiplier of a 50Mhz.
does the memory bus switch speeds depending on what CPU is accessing it? or is it locked to either the PPC or 68k bus speed?
Basicly thinking of trying to get round the ram clocking up with the 68k speed, but if this is based off the (i'm guessing here) "double think" Amiga DSP CPU board design, then it is locked to the 68k CPU, so some decoupling logic is still required.

basicly need something like the old overdrive CPU upgrades that allowed a bus multipled CPU (pentium) in a 486 socket, in order to run a 70Mhz+ 060 on a blizzard card...

any other thoughts? or am i talking bull5h1t?... i dunno, i just daydream...  :-D

Sigh... alexh... I'm referrign to the initial post where it's talked about an EC CPU... I very well know a full (not EC/LC) CPU work with all 060 cards and the that there are models that can be clocked to 100Mhz with propper cooling (as done on some Atari turbos) and only issue with that atm trying to clock it to 100Mhz is that no amiga turbo so far supports it, no? Gee... :roll:

Well, i thought a cheap cpu for the Apollo would be nice, so i bought most of these cpu:s from Corrie.
What a big mistake...
Not only are they NOT the same cpu as found on Apollo 1260/75 (a lie in the auction description..) they dont work with Apollo turbocards.
Now the seller says: "Just because they are not working with the apollo cards, is no reason for me to take them back."

So, be warned, never buy a MC68EC060RC75 for use with ANY amiga accelerator card and dont buy anything from Corrie...

The Apollo 1260 will run at 80MHz because the FSB is set to 40MHz. (I've got such a card.) The Blizzard has the FSB set  the same as the CPU clock, which will limit the frequency to some 66MHz or so.

The CPUs are clearly marked 'EC' versions which mean no FPU or MMU. The buyer after purchasing has told me that he needs 'LC' versions of the CPUs for his particular setup. I have clearly marked the CPUs as EC version to which the buyer has bought them. www.amiga-hardware.com, processors, EC68060, states This processor has never been used as the base processor in any Amiga, or accelerator card although it should be almost 100% compatible. I did not give any guarentees to the buyer that these cpus will work with his setup nor can I be expected to as it would depend on his RAM, motherboard version etc. At no stage have I offered refunds or guarentees.

I want to return these cpu:s because they dont work with Apollo 75Mhz accelerator cards. From the auction description: Quote: "These CPUs are the ones found on the Apollo 75Mhz accelerator cards." I have found ot that these cpu:s are NOT the same as found on the Apollo 75Mhz accelerator cards and dont work with them or any other Apollo card.  

Corrie: so now you admit that this cpu has never been used in any amiga accelerator card?
Why advertise them on amiga.org?
