Mediator and TV tuner Cards
« on: July 24, 2006, 12:30:03 PM »
Hello!

I'm thinking about adding a PCI TV tuner card to my Towerised Amiga 4000 with Mediator, I'd like to know if anyone has some experience and suggestion about compatible models. A remote control would be nice too :-P

I know but they are too much to check, i'd prefer to gather some personal experience.

Moreover one thing is writing that a board has been Tested and another thing is to confirm that it works nicely.

Do you have a TV tuner card on a mediator?

Ok sorry, I thought you were just asking what is compatible. I haven't got a TV card in my Mediator but I'm thinking of getting one. I don't know how differently the cards would perform as the driver is the same.

I have Terratec TerraTValue. It was cheapest I could find at the time I bought it. Didn't have too much extra money :) I guess you'll get what you pay... it doesn't have remote control and it gets pretty much interference from Amiga. Some channels are ok, but some have lots of interference... even more if I'm playing something with Delfina's DSP ;) Don't know if expensive cards would have better shielding or something... I have connected composite output from A1200 to it and composite picture is ok, but not as colorful and sharp as with RGB to other displays (of course).

Sometimes I don't get the picture at all when opening the tv software, but it's just matter of restarting it... doesn't happen too often and easy to fix, so it's not too big problem.

VHIStudio grabs snapshots nicely from TV.. haven't tried any streams...
Daily MorphOS user and Amiga active.

I have a Voodoo TVFM with MT2032 PAL frontend.
The composite in works, but I've never been able to get anything through the tuner side of things.
I don't have a remote for it, but it is supposed to come with one.

It currently sits in my PC kindly accepting the amiga's composite signal as an emergency backup.

I had a MM210PCTV (I think, although it may have been a MM205PCTV) which worked on both the tuner and composite signals.

Mac Mini G4 (1.5GHz, 64MB VRam, 1GB Ram): MorphOS 3.6
Powerbook 5.8 (15", 1.67GHz, 128MB VRam, 1GB Ram): MorphOS 3.8.

Windows-free since 2011-2014 (Damn you Netflix!)

Well the question is that I have a full optional Amiga 4000 with only onle pci/Zorro3 slot so I thought it woud be better to add a Paloma module to my Picasso IV so I can save a PCI slot. :-P

I have a PCI Tv tuner card on my PC though and it has a remote control. I payed it 35 euros used :-P

With the Paloma I don't have a remote control so if I have to buy a PCI card and use all My PCI/zorro slots it Has to have a remote control.
