Help with a Video Toaster 4000.
« on: July 11, 2006, 02:08:46 PM »
I have the 4000 running great now, but I cannot get thetoaster to boot up, when the Amiga is starting up I get a cant assign toaster in the start up.  Then once everything is booted up and I try to boot the toaster I get a shell type screen that comes up and states it cannot start the toaster software.  I used to know all this stuff cold but its been far to long.  Can anyone help?

Thanks

Software installed correctly?
Assigns made? Edit the start-up manually.
I use to know all this stuff also.
Have a few toaster systems in the back room in various states of assembly. or disassembly...

Depending on the version it can be slightly different, but in the user-startup file there should be a line like

Assign toaster: dh1:somedirectory

Where dh1: is the name a of drive where the software is and somedirectory is the directory where the toaster software is.  It appears this is pointing to the wrong place.  Use the editor, fix it, reboot and see what happens.

Ok,  look at the user-startup file and tell us what the toaster:  assign looks like, then go and find where your toaster software really is on your harddrive and tell us that as well.
