amiga.org branded computer?
« on: June 14, 2006, 09:12:30 AM »
let's say the owner of amiga.org (or amiga.***) wants to produce a computer (pc, pegasos, ...) with the domain name as a brand.

"amiga.org compatible computer"

or "org.amiga.computer"

or "pc.amiga.org"

would that be possible?

As they are using the word Amiga (and in the context of a computer) then they would need to get a licence from Amiga.

Probably not a big deal though, Amiga would just want some money.

Other than that, yes.

Nothing in particular, just an idea. I stumbled across this (do you remember?) and I thought what if we could use a domain name as a brand for an open amiga computer?

I see. Well I think Ainc would see it as whoever produced it capitalising on the Amiga name. I doubt they would allow it.

Wow!  That brings back memories.  I can't believe that was 3 years ago.  I feel old :-(

Shame that it never really happened the way things were supposed to.  It was a good idea, and one of a few bright things during a rather dark time.

Hmmn, all that time ago and OS4 still hasn't been officially released.

Yup... nothing has changed in the amiga world...
