Hiya
« on: June 17, 2006, 04:23:54 AM »
Hi all,
This is my introduction as well as asking for a lil help.
Nick named Sly  :-D
aged 28, Started out with a C-64.. Fav games on that was..
Bards Tale, Hyper Sports, Microprose Soccer etc..
Moved to the Amiga side a lil while later.. owned an A500.
sold that and moved to the A1200 and never looked back since.
Then after many years it broke down.. and until recently i
bought another one off ebay (starting to get to the point now)
Which leads me to ask anyone out there if they can value
some equitment up for me. I will be buying an A1200 boxed with
a Blizzard 030 MK 1V with FPU and 32 Meg Ram, SCSI drive, 2.1GB HDD, & a spare 510meg HDD (for the one i bought off ebay that didnt have a HDD) And the usall othes like, Mouse, Joystick, Few boxed games, and also Kick 3.1 and WB 3.1 Installed. Oh and the A1200 keys look very white in the Pic as well. So i hope someone can kinda break down a price on that or even a ball park figure as after a few posts i will post what price im going to pay for it.
Ok im sure you dont really want to read anymore but i have one more question... I bought yet another A1200 off ebay and this came with a 85meg HDD and a MIDI ?!? now the thing is.. is that i got a error message in WB which said "error validating "WORK" so i deleated the partition and now have no boot up into HDD as theres no partition and i have no "install disk"... so can i get around installing WB without the install disk or i have to ask one of you nice people if you send me one ? maybe to buy ? or borrow ?
Ok enought for today  :-P
Thanks in advance for any help on these matters.. Sly

By 'deleting' the partition, did you use HDTools or similar to do so?  If not, the partition is still there.  You can make a quick and dirty boot partition by just copying your Workbench disk to the bootable partition.  You can find out which harddisk partition is bootable (usually dh0:) by holding down both mouse buttons at boot and checking the boot screen.  If you really did delete the harddrive partitions, go to Aminet and download HDInstalltools (think that's the name).  It's an improvement on HDTools (which is the program you're missing on the Install disk).  Boot from floppy and then use this program to set up new harddisk partitions and copy Workbench disk as I said before.  If you know what you're doing you can manually install the other OS disks into the correct folders on your new Sys: (bootable) partition.  If not, just pick up a copy from Amigakit or another dealer (SoftwareHut is my choice in USA).  I'm assuming you are using 3.0 system roms, so make sure you purchase the correct disks.
