Amiga dev summary
« on: May 28, 2006, 09:20:18 AM »
Okay, so I've been watching the happenings on here for a long time like a lot of people on here. But, I wanted to explain to someone who's been out of the Amiga scene for many years what the situation was and I think I've gone and gotten myself confused. What's the current situation regarding the whole Amiga software developing environment? I mean, is it just the AmigaDE SDK thing or is there an AOS4 SDK thing? What's someone need in order to get into programming Amiga stuff?

Hyperion have released a SDK for OS4.0, but I'm not sure whether it can be used on OS4 only or whether it has the cross-compiler stuff too.

Although I'm not a fan of it myself, CubicIDE (formally GoldEd) seems to be the easiest way of getting started and IIRC it contains all you need for MOS OS4 and 68k.

AROS also had some interesting tools if I'm not mistaken.

I'm still using my old A1200 and Devpac/DPaint/Protracker/AMOS.

I never write anything that won\\\'t run on a stock A1200.  That\\\'s the Jigsaw Lounge Guarantee.

http://www.zerohero.se/cross/ is nice set of cross compilers at least. Then you can use whatever IDE you want (assuming you setup the build to use the cross gcc).
