Processor question
« on: May 15, 2006, 08:50:09 PM »
I've got a processor here that a mate wants to know about.

There's a heat sink on it so I can't easily find out exactly what it is.  I don't want to force the heatsink off incase of breakage.

I've tried using the info on the underside to find out what it is and I keep getting P4 at 2.x GHz coming up.  But he's almost positive it's nothing that recent.

Anyways, here's the belly info:

8441826FAB
MALAY
GR 506
INTEL M © 89 92

The M is like © and the 506 is about 6 or 7 characters to the right of GR.

Any help would be, um, helpful :-)

Oh yeah, there's "i66" (without the quotes) engraved on the gold plate underneath all the other writing.

Thanks for that, had a quick look and not found much, but I'll have a better look in a wee while.

I prefer amd's aswell, got a Sempron 2600+ in this machine :-)

--edit--

Forgot to mention, it was found in a plastic case in a drawer, so we have no idea what motherboard or anything it was connected with.  So software to find out what it is is a no go.

Thanks Doobs.  We knew it was older than the P4 that kept coming up :-D

(The 506 was a P4 number)

@blobs

I think we've got a 486 (might be SX), P75, P133 and a P333 lying around here somewhere :-)

The pin-count is a generational indicator.
Not too many P4's come in a socket-1,2,3 package.  :-P
