Hi Steve,

After using both, I can definately express
that the '060 is much faster than the '030 or
even '040.  There is a huge difference. Of
the '060 cards, the blizzard can be disabled
for full compatability which is a nice feature.

As Piru stated, the "mips" rating is not
comparable to real - life performance, but
SysSpeed rates my 1260/65mhz at 86.24 mips.

Thanks for all your replies guys!  :-)

I'm aware that MIPS isn't a particularly good way of comparing different processors, but I had to start somewhere! The Amiga benchmarks on the page that lorddef linked to higher up was exactly the sort of thing I was looking for... comparison tables for accelerator cards and dozens of benchmark tests.

I'm after an accelerator card mainly to upgrade to the sort of capability I would have liked my Amiga to have had in the mid-90's... I'm not particularly interested in running Quake, Wipeout, or any other fancy 3D Amiga games after AB3DII - I've got my AMD 2100+ PC with Geforce 4 for those sorts of games  :-D. I'm upgrading to run 'classic' Amiga 1200 games up to about 1996/7 for nostalgic reasons, and for that I think a Blizzard 1230/50 with 32MB RAM should do just fine.

But I still envy those of you with 060/50's and 060/66's!    :-)

Steve.

For playing older games and such the '030 will
be more than adequate, and loads faster than
the stock setup...have fun! :)

My Apollo 1230Lite - 68030 at 25 Mhz (ignore FPU stuff) - 5.01 MIPS.

and the translation of MIPS ?
- Meaningless Indicator of Processor Speed ... :-P

Anybody know any more? I am particularly interested in a MIPS benchmark for an 030/50Mhz and a 060/50Mhz, just for a comparison.
