GLQuake or Quake for 68060?
« on: March 18, 2006, 09:52:31 AM »
Hey all, I have a 060 50mhz, and a Cybervision 64/3D card, and I want to try Quake out on it. I was wondering what the best version is to try, since there are a few. And also is it worth looking into GLQuake (no laughing) on a Virge DX? :p

I play the Quake version and it runs on an 060/50 MHz. I only played the game on an A1200 with a Blizzard 1260 and 128 MB of RAM. The resolution was 320x256 on AGA. The FPS was 10.

Try both versions and look which it's the best on your machine.

I am not sure if GLQuake runs on the Virge, since it was made for Voodoo.
If you try a GL-version of Quake, make sure that you get Blitzquake, not GLQuake.
Blitzquake is just amazing, has lots of added features and runs faster than GLQuake.

If you have a graphics card supporting it, the GL-version is much faster than the normal Quake-version.
Blitzquake even run reasonably fast on my 040/40 with a Mediator/Voodoo3 combo.
Now with a BPPC it's just a dream, even in high resolutions.
