Blizzard 1230-IV + SCSI Kit (fitting it inside A1200D case)
« on: March 06, 2006, 03:18:07 PM »
Is it possible to fit this combo together without the Blizzard card touching and slightly pushing out the plastic trap-door cover? No real issues here, other than the fact that it looks kind of ugly, if you look at the bottom of the case. :-)

yes provided you don't have a physicaly  big simm module pushing the trapdoor into a bulge... ;-)

i found that the scsi module gets caught on the inside lip of the trapdoor hole, idealy the accelerator should sit flat on the lip, and the scsimodule should fit inside it...

i have the top cover off my machine at the moment untill i can get a PPC card, or get bored of waiting and get an 060 instead, so i was able to see where it was catching on the plastic.

I guess I'll have to check out the positioning of everything again. I know about the SCSI kit having to go underneath the plastic edge and Blizzard on top of it, however I believe that Blizzard's SIMM socket (even without a memory module in it) pushes the trapdoor out slightly.

Perhaps the 32MB module attached to the SCSI kit is a bit too tall. :-? I'll have to investigate. :-)

i'm not sure then. i've got a fairy wide/tall 64Mb single sided module in the scsi simm slot, and i've got plenty of room underneath the keyboard. i've also got one in the simm slot on the accelerator, and it only clips in one side as it sits over the top of the CPU. still works fine, but it then makes the trapdoor bulge slightly. if its working, don't worry about it. used to use the trapdoor to hold the bottom simm in place! eek!
