Oh - No Lemmings??
« on: February 22, 2006, 12:52:23 AM »
Trouble again!
Been playing Lemmings (1) on my A1000, from a ADF of the net.
The ADF is a Cracked game (Skid Row??)
Anyhow Game works just fine, Decided to buy origional copy from ebay, when I recived the game, found it to play A OK on our CDTV, but when attempted to play on the A1000 as with the downloaded cracked version, the Game will not even begin to load, (just get a white screen & Drive led remains lit)
Is this a known problem with games on A1000's?
Clearly the game (Copy) will run on 512kb A1000 and the Origional disk's I have from ebay work on the CDTV?
Im, just confused??
Only solution I can think of is to overwrite the Origional copy with the Hacked one, but this destroys the game play as the cracked one has unlimited lemmings (Diggers, blockers, bombers etc)
Cheers
Michael

Don't overwrite anything, please.

Odds are the game needs 1MB to run, which the CDTV has and the A1000 doesn't.

There was an CDTV version of the game, maybe your copy is bases on that.

But normally the cracked versions have introscreen where you can turn on/off the cheats you want to have, but maybe this is not one of them..

Unfortunately the www.back2roots.org website is down now. If it comes up again, I'll advise you to check there later for another .adf version.
But if you have a HD on the A1000, you can try this link for the WDHDLoad version of the game.

I'm hopefully getting a 2MB expander for My A1000 of ebay this week!...depends of the price, as shipping to the U.K. will be £30!!! OUCH
So I will wait till then to test!
But still dont get why a downloaded ADF copy (2 disk's) will run on my 512kb A1000?
The origional I have is a 2 disk version, not a single one like put in promition Amiga packs A500 etc

OH - NO it's real AMIGA trouble now!
First the Origional game disk's would not play
Then no disk's would work every time...errors here there and dam everywhere!
so switched of system and went to bed.
next session I turned on Amiga...no KICKSTART screen!
:madashell:  :madashell:  :madashell:  :madashell:  :madashell:  :madashell:  :madashell:  :madashell:
What the hell is going on??
opened up amiga,,,checked all connections.. still no joy
disconnected internal floppy...attempted to boot from external floppy A1011 still nothing!
seems that my floppy is dead???
checked boot sequence...get grey screen, then beep beep tune, then white screen..but no KICKSTART request hand??
look on net for guide to problem..this is what I found!

A1000
   1) fast steady power LED blink; dark screen
      a) 74S51 (U9I) & 74F74 (U8I); Damaged from expansion port
   2) no parallel output
      a) 8520
      b) PAULA
   3) Goes thru diagnostic blinks but no Kick icon
      a) Check for internal disk drive "track-zeroing" movement
   4) Dead
      a) check that expansion shield fingers aren't bent to mother
      board
   5) Check for bent connector pins
   6) no serial
      a) check MC1488 & MC1489
      b) check PAULA
   7) Bad mouse or joy stick movements
      a) check 74LS157
      b) check 8520's

So it sounds like the nice clean floppy drive I have is buggered!
Will a 1010 floppy connect inside the system?
as I have a CDTV A1011 which I opened and found to have different connectors!
but every cloud has a sliver lining???
noticed CPU is a MC68010!!!!!
not much..but at least it something to keep me smiling

BTW I missed the flipping 2MEG expander on ebay because of the trouble I was haveing...DOH!!!!...and it went for peanuts!
