Know a place to get Zorro III connectors.
« on: February 02, 2006, 05:07:33 AM »
One of our local hardware ph3rks said they he had something good instore for me, but he needs to get ahold of 5 zorro III connectors, I think they are made by Foxxcon since he doesn't have any.

Sort of stripping them off my spare a4000 motherboard (not an option), or my other a4000's (hell no), I have no immediate source of them. I've looked on the web, but can't seem to find a place. Anyone have an idea?

Elbox sells Zorro risers, but at 10 bucks a pop, plus shipping, that's probably not very economical at all.

I've heard that cannibalizing multiple ISA connectors can work. They're probably more available.

McMurdo Connectors make the appropriate 100 way edge sockets, but they're a commerical manufacturer.  I doubt you'll be able to buy a small quantity from them very easily.

If you want to do it on the cheap and don't mind if it's not super pretty, just combine a few 2.54mm pitch edge connectors after trimming the ends off with a hacksaw so they mate together to correctly contact the card :-)

Hi,
The best place I have found for Zorro connectors is the All Electronics Corporation
They are $1 each or $0.8 if you have 100.
They have wirewrap ones too.

The trouble with ISA connectors is getting the spacing and cut straight when you mate the two ends.

All right.  Long before when I was going to use ISA slots in place of Zorro slots myself, I ran into that same type of spacing problem.  Since the guy is pretty tech savvy as it is, I'm sure he would have thought of the ISA idea already, but I think he has a specific reason for me to get Zorro III slots.

He kinda figures since I have no job I would be able to find them easily because I'm suppose to have all this time.  Well I  hope those connectors aren't off space like the last bit of 100 pin connectors I got about a year ago.
