I would rather not buy anything as I know this works with freely available software.  And I know the card is not configured properly because the green light does not come on at all.

The card is instered correctly because PrepCard changes from No Card Inserted to Unrecognised when I put it in.

Silly question, but I notice you haven't mentioned the model of the network card - is it a 3c589 (or 3cec589, or 3cxe589) card?

I know, but one thing this thread highlights is how it isn't that easy to network an Amiga.  With broadband being mainstream now and home networks being common, the Amiga needs to be easier to add onto the network.  This is what inspires the EasyNet project (new release due 10th Feb)

btw - OT: Have you thought about getting some USB - IDE cables in to sell with the spiders/Subways you have in stock? I was surprised to not find them on the website.

The card is a 3Com 10 Mbps LAN card for 10BASE-T

The model number on the back is 3CCE589ET

Right, I'm giving up on this.  It's taken too much time, just to transfer some files over.

Instead, I am looking to get a memory card to go in there instead.  If I got one, would I be able to plug it into the PC, copy files to it and then read it using CrossDOS or similar ?

If so, can anyone recommend where to buy a card from ?

If all you want is being able to transfer files, then why not use a cd-rw cd for that purpose?
