I've been thinking doing something like this too. It would be handy to flip the NIC full 180 degrees to make it fully internal. For both A1200 and A600.

Overpriced?: two connectors for 20 quids

Have you seen the price of PCMCIA connectors in small quantities?
Also, add in the price for a small run of PCBs to solder them to.

I was gonna build one myself, but after I priced it up it was cheaper to buy one ready made.

In what way is it against the community?  Do you mean that some people saying that users should not hack their own hardware is against the community?  Or saying that some vendors have overpriced products is against the community?  Why do you think the thread should be closed?
Good good study, day day up!

Hey, take it easy Chain. That was a novel way of solving a problem.
I was only taking issue with the 'overpriced' comment, not slamming you for trying something different. (BTW. I you'd have said 'expensive' I'd agree with you.)
Sorry if I caused any offence.

I almost forgot... I used a pccard slot from a old dead laptop which I got for free from a local pcstore. The whole build didn't cost more than that ide cable I used. Probably spent 3-4 hours with the soldering iron. Had to do the motherboard side twice because I didn't pay attention and ended up with all the connections backwards... Thank God it didn't kill the motherboard when I tested it.

I get the same as _ThEcRoW.

@ dawpiper.

Nice work. I'd like my pcmcia in a bay to be honest and that could be just the way to do it. :pint:
