A matter of personal taste, and what your hardware is capable of. What graphics card are you using?

Well the BVision should allow a wide range of resolutions. Just try them all until you find one you like :-)

what a strange question. Almost like whats my fav. colour?

I guess it depends on what you do, how often, and why.

1024 x 768 suited me fine for a long time. Then I upgraded to a TFT monitor, and suddenly 1280 x 1024 was available. ;-)
After a decade away from the scene, I am back!

1280x1084 if your hardware can handle it, this seems to be the "new" 1024 resolution, becoming a standard

1280 x 1024 is not a 4:3 ratio screen resolution, you can either scale down the sides of your display so you have black borders on the left and right or get a squarer TFT screen. If you use the full display area on a normal CRT screen your image will be vertically squashed as your glass screen will always be a quarter wider than it is tall... so too must the resolution or everyone will look fat onscreen.
