OS 3.9 "printable" manual ?
« on: April 09, 2003, 11:46:40 AM »
Hi

I'm looking for a PRINTABLE version of the OS3.9 Manual, ie-not the one supplied on the CD, because it's quasi-impossible to print out, page after page. Both tedious and unusable

What I'm looking for is some flat-layout, better designed documentation, that when printed will be easier to handle.

What I need is the full CLI docs, ARREX, everything.

In my opinion AI/Hyperion made a poor job about this documentation. I can perfectly understand that they did not have the money to print a book (I love books) but in that case they should have provided a decent workaround.
This is not. It cannot even be uploaded to a Palm Pilot for viewing, the layout does not allow for that.

The guy responsible for this has obviously little or no experience in technical documentation at all.

I'm only talking about the FORM, witch shoul be more streamlined and... Well, printable.

Maybe I'll do it, but now I don't have the time

Any link ? This is more important than not, really.

thank you !

pX

Wrong!! Hyperion had nothing to do with OS3.9.
H&P oversaw the 3.9 project.
Anyhow, there are plenty of tools on the net to convert HTML pages into PDF's (if that's what you're after) like here.
It don't take too long either.

Sorry I confused the two companies.

So the answer is NO huh ? No ready-to-print versions of the manual ? Bummer :-(

You obviously did'nt try it.
It takes ages, and the mileage vary A LOT. I think when you sell a product, you have to supply a printable manual, period.

This is really a shame.
