What, are you kidding me?  PPOE is a POS.  I'd love to have a DSL provider who doesn't use PPOE and when you get a static IP address, you're actually setting up a static IP address.

Well, I use Miami on DSL, but I'm also using a router as I have a number of machines sharing the connection, another plus for the router.  Plus, they provide some firewall protection.

If they gave you a static IP though, you shouldn't be using DHCP, you just plug in the IP address they assign to you and the DNS servers.

  That's what I thought, too! Maybe cable modems don't get along directly without Miami DX. I don't know, I'll try the router, if I can't connect to that then I know the problem is elsewhere.

 Troubleshooting the Amiga...loads of expensive fun!

YES! I was pulling my hair out until I got a router. Once I hooked up the router, my miggy was on broadband within 3 minutes.

The only one I have used is the Netgear RP114, but I have nothing but good to say about it when it comes to basic setup and configuration. It couldn't be easier.

Yep! I am also on a Netgear RP114. It works great and I haven't had to mess with it much at all.

It's kinda a bummer now that they have me working on T1's I had to surrender all my ISDN and DSL test equipment. It was nice working DSL except for the tearing into other peoples PC's to install parts. Some of those were VERY scarry! Ever had a pc full of roaches  YUK! :-P
