CRT Trinitron - looks like dead pixel...but isn't... =/
« on: October 02, 2005, 02:52:50 AM »
I got a CRT Trinitron DELL P1130 monitor. For some wierd reason, it has now gotten something that looks like a dead pixel.
The wierd thing is, that it isn't realy a dead pixel.

If i'm holdin' the finger on the monitor over the little black dot and turning the head around, then i can se the black dot. In other words...its NOT on top of the glass.

If i'm holding the cursor on the black dot and turning the head around, then i can see how the black dot moves around OVER the cursor. In other words...it's not on the "image layer" there the computer image is.

One more thing that's wierd is that when i'm turning around the black dot changes color. You know...red, white, green, black, blue and some other colors...it all depends on how i'm lookin' at it.

This little dot is so {bleep}ing anoying!

Does someone know why it's there, if it's possible to get rid of it and how!?

(i won't awnser this thread in a few hours becouse the clock is 3:50AM in Sweden and i want to zleep...Z_z)

I know that those huge monitors on Sparc boxes have horizontal lines across them where there are wires keeping the mesh in place. Maybe your monitor only needs that one spot to hold the mesh. I'm just making a theory here.

No, i don't think so. This little black dot hasn't been there before and it isn't becouse of those two damp wire shadows (that's on every trinitron monitor)

@ Sid

maybe it's a small dead insect or something that just
happen to die while out for a walk ;-)

I tell you it's those Gremlins... They pop up when least you expect them...

they can just as bad as those fabled creatures, the Glitches... so better watch out for those...

PS: Have you contacted Matt Prager of the OSIR, yet?

CRT monitors, can't have "dead pixel" at all (as you know).

It could be a dead/fried phospore but, if this is the problem you
can't do anything.

About on how Triniton tech works, its a litlle bit complicated to
explain :-)
