Amiga, Inc. Dead?
« on: September 25, 2005, 06:13:27 PM »
Is the jig finally up? I have attempted to contact Amiga, Inc. concerning an OS4 project four times now with nye a response whatsoever.

If so that will greatly effect my plans. For those who recall my "Opportunity" post, the project is still on-going albeit slowly and the game plan has changed a good bit --but obviously it will have to change a great deal more if Amiga, Inc. is indeed kicked.

As far as I'm concerned, they are.  Amiga Inc along with a
few other Amiga related companys seem to have the stangest
business models I have ever seen.  They certainly are masters
at shrinking a market as opposed to trying to expand its
capital base.  Just my two cents.

If they are not dead, then they sure as hell does not seem to care much about the Amiga community..

@transami

I would suggest asking Hyperion Entertainment if it is feasable first.  If you need a Linux compatabiltiy layer as you mentioned in the other thread I'd suggest looking into AROS hosted under Linux unless memory constraints prevent it.  Another option would be Zeta (formerly known as BeOS) as it has some POSIX compliance.

Firefox and OpenOffice.org are slowly being ported to AOS4 but it isn't going to happen overnight.  Each has dependancies on other projects that have to be completed first.

(If I understand this oppertunity), this lies completly in Hyperions ball park.

if you ask them about AmigaDE/AA then they will most likely
answer... any questions about OS4 most likely get's thrown
in the trash bin straight away, since it is of no interest to them.
and from a commercial point of view I understand that entirely
it (OS4 -and for that matter MOS-) is now just a
commercial suicide project.

as for Amiga Inc not caring about the amiga community, my
question is... what f***ing community, it's been split into
four/five diffrent communities that all have diffrent agendas
or has nothing whatsoever to do with amiga, but still is VERY
vocal about anything amiga (those communities ar AROS, OS4, MOS, 68K, Amithlon and then
you have WOS and UAE too, but they sorta belongs under 68K).
and soon we will have Coldfire there too.

And what did the 'community' do for Amiga, Inc. besides {bleep}
about everything... 'that's no good, why are they doing that,
why don't they answer questions, why do they answer question, why
don't they do anything about that, why are they doing something about that.'
etc. etc. etc.

this is all IMO.
