Ariadne and her sister, AriadneII...
« on: November 13, 2005, 03:48:45 PM »
Hi all,

I have both an Ariadne and an AriadneII ethernet card and have got problems with both...

1) When the AriadneII is in my Z-IV busboard in my towered A1200, the system boots up fine. When trying to connect to Broadband everything locks up. Have got the latest drivers (same as I had) and reinstalled but the same problem.  Everything was fine up until about a week ago... Miami nor Genesis will let me connect to Broadband using this card, so...

2) I brought out my back-up, the original Ariadne. Great! I can connect to Broadband and thus the Internet again. BUT... I have to do a manual reset when booting or rebooting the system.  Without this manual reset the system will not boot.  From cold, with Ariadne in tow, the system starts to boot but does not access any drives etc and seems to keep doing a soft reset every 10 seconds or so... Do a manual reset (tower button) and it boots up and into OS3.9 fine...

So, Answers... 1) Do you think my AriadneII is kaput? I dont currently have another machine to test it in... 2) Can anybody help with the mysterious boot problem with the Ariadne?

Thanks in advance...

Jason

P.S. Should I just flog both cards and buy an X-Surf? :)

@Pertinax:

As you have issues with both cards, maybe there is something wrong with your ZIV busboard. Make sure all connectors are clean and seated correctly.

I'm thinking 2 things here... and both are related to the bussboard. When you boot does the system find the cards in early startup? and after a softreset? What I'm thinking is either bad bussboard or low power.

Suggestions: Check that all powercables are connected correctly (reseat them) and remove all other hardware from the bussboard and see if it helps (could be both hardware that doesn't like eachother or low power). Last thing try the Zorrocards in a different system to see if they work there.
