A4000d PSU question
« on: June 04, 2005, 07:24:21 PM »
How much muscle does this PSU have? I have just received a Micronik tower and am think of towering my 4000 with all the scsi devices I now have in a seperate SCSI tower.

Will the PSU pull this:
A4000 rev D
Cyberstorm PPC
10.000 RPM SCSI drive
Zorro Board
Picasso IV
Ariadne Network Card
Floppy drive
DAT Tape Streamer
CD-Rom drive (SCSI)
CDRW drive (SCSI)
(future soundcard)
(future Algor Pro)

I am afraid this might just be too much drain on a desktop powersupply. Specially worried about the SCSI Stuff, a 10.000 RPM drive takes a bit of juice, and so do the Plextor CD drives...  :-o

I wouldn't risk it, but why would you want to stick with old PSU when getting new tower?

no, no Tahoe . . no way to use the original A4000D 145 Watt PSU.

Too much drain.

I have 2 SCSI (a 10000 and a 7200) and an IDE+CD+CDRW more some Zorro cards and 2 GFX cards and i'm starting to have troubles with a 250Watt ATX (purchased brand new-Seasonic SS250)

Don't buy cheap PSU, above all with your nice configuration :-)

Because the Micronik tower is designed to take the standard 4000 powersupply and has no way of attaching a AT or ATX one :(

Thanx Framiga, I'll do a little case modding and fit a stronger one.

Sounds strange as the MicroniK tower I have has a modified AT PSU. The previous owner could have done this though, but I highly doubt it as the conversion looks highly professional.
