How much a A2000 is worth?
« on: May 28, 2005, 06:53:33 PM »
I have a friend that owns a A2000; he never used it, I don't know how he got it;
I took a look at the box: It's a A2000 with 2 3.5 FDD's and a 5.25 FDD; DOS compatibility card with a 286 on it (dunno, 8 or 12 Mhz).
The box comes with a mouse and external floppy.
How much do you think I should pay me friend for it?
 :-D
A500, KS 1.3, 1 Mb RAM
A1200, KS 3.0, 2 Mb Chip+8 Mb Fast RAM, 1 Gb CF
Lots of 8-bit computers (:-D me thinks I\'m the only Romanian that owns 3 Acorn BBC\'s - 2 Model B\'s and a Master)
Athlon X2 4200+, 2x1 Gb DDR II, 250+750Gb Seagate Barracuda SATA ...

It is worth as much as you are willing to pay for it and/or the price he is willing to let it go.

Give him a hundred or two. The machine is somewhat of a rare masterpiece works-ing and is sure going to reep a lot of successful joy and querth in your A2000 fan persona.

Yup, 150.

Good fun.

Assuming it is an old Kick 1.3 machine I`d say 50 EUR is about enough.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

Yea, I suppose it's a 1.3 Kick; I have to look again inside the box to see if it is a OCS or ECS machine.
And the external floppy is one of the old, tall A1010, not a slim 1011

I've just recently been given 2 machines for nothing.  One is an A2000 with a GVP Scsi/Ram/A2090A/2 floppies/external scsi Bernoulli, and SCSI cdrom.  The other is an A500 with a ram expansion and 2080 monitor.  Both cost me $0.00.

I agree with much of what has been said, but at the end of the day it's worth what you are willing to pay!

However to give you some idea of value?

I collect Amiga computers for my computer museum.  I have several Amiga 2000's is various guises which I have bought off ebay.  (A1500, A2000, A2500HD etc) They have cost between £40 and £70 depending on the specification & who is bidding.  Check ebay for any A2000 that may be currently for sale. Your friends machine appears to have a Bridgeboard and IBM drive which would push the price up, but no hard drive which will bring it down!

Good Luck

For a collector that alon ecould be of way more interest then the whole rest of the machine.
Bridgeboards are a nice thing, but the commodore ones are nearly worthless, even the 386er ones.
I saw an A2286 including 5.25" Floppy go for 5 Bucks or so. If it were a GoldenGate we would talk serious money. The 386 Version will fetch 60 EUR easy while the 486 version will crack the 100 EUR limit when in good condition and with Vortex monitorswitch.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

I'd say around the 50EUR mark would be a fair price (though not a lot more...).

I think you should hand over several gold bricks for it.
But then again, I spend other people's money too easily ;-)

Hi fillosauru,
'Bout 5 years ago, my Daughter was living in Dayton, Ohio (USA) and picked up an old A2000 for me for $25 USD.  No keyboard, no mouse, nothing.  Being an old (literally) Amiga Addict, I started to revive her.  Since then, it's been about $800.00 and I wouldn't trade her for the world so to speak.  It makes me happy, maybe reminding of a different time.  What I'm trying to say, is, it's worth what you are willing to put into it.  You will get out what you put in.  Well, maybe you'll put in more, but that's the fun of it.  Best regards...Art

Weell, me friend will probabilly give it to me for free, but I want to 'compensate' him somehow. Since his daughter has an old Pentium II, I thought that I might give him some RAM or AGP 16-32 Mb video card. And some pirated PC software as well.
