Sorry, no way. If his harddrive would be set up then he could configure the discdrive to read pc discs but now he can´t read pc floppies ... he really needs one the following two things :

1)an original Install disc
2)an Emergency Disc for the A3000 that gives access to a CDrom that needs to be installed. This Disc has to come from another A3000 user which has got OS3.9 and of course your friend needs to have the OS3.9 CD too !!!

You could also copy the .adf diskimage onto a pc floppy, then use the workbench disks to mount pc0: and then access the .adf image and write that to a formatted amiga disk. Quite a trip I admit.

Easiest thing is to just find another seasoned Amiga user nearby - I think most of us have all the same disks anyways :-D

As an alternative, you can get PC <-> Amiga linkup kits which include an Amiga boot disk, PC CDRom drivers, and a cable - that could be used, and if you could get the harddisk formatted you could then dump everything onto a 2nd partition on the Amiga, then install it all from there - I did this to get OS3.9 onto my A1200 without having to set up the Squirrel.

There's a little program needed to convert ADFs back to disks, I can't remember what it's called though, lol.

The problem with that is that an adf is usually 880kb and pc floppies can only do 720kb.

I know you could use lha to reduce it then put it onto a pc floppy, but getting lha, the required libs and whatever else is needed would be a bit of a task in itself.

But if that is the route that's taken you'll find good adf to disk progs right here (aminet) and a pc archiver that handles lha (.lzh on pc) right here(ultimatezip - shareware).

I couldn't find the full lha prog on aminet, probably because I'm knackered :-)

That's when you hope the miggy in question has a high density drive!
