Back-scatter X-ray Scanner
« on: May 18, 2005, 08:24:39 AM »
Ja, the time has come for those of us who would consider concealing something non-metallic in our clothing, to reconsider. Airports are trying new scanners that can map your surface densities up to a few centimetres into the skin. More info here.
On another site they have claimed that there is not enough detail to fully 'appreciate' someone's genitals, for example, but hasten to add that the operator has no direct line-of-sight to the subject, in order to avoid embarrassing situations.
"Excuse me sir, there seems to be a crusty sock in your pants!"  :-o

Since when has sock abuse been a crime? :pissed:

-Edit-
I'm not sure I want to be subjected to 10 microRem per exam...

If I believe the specs, then this device gives off a very low-dose, albeit a full-body one. 10 microrem is very, very small. Chest and mammography X-rays are very localised and have to be powerful since they must penetrate quite a lot of water. X-ray himself can undoubtedly shed some more light on the subject, being a trained medic and all.
Some people say that cats are sneaky, evil and cruel. True, and they have many other fine qualities as well.

Oh, that's easy. Just wear underwear plated with old lead, that should reduce the radiation exposure of the family jewels to a minimum. Of course, you will draw a lot of attention from security personnel wondering what the heck you are wearing a thing around your thingies for ;-).

Hum,
Kill it before it shoots you....

A simple HERF Gun will knock out the electronics so you can pass through unnoticed....

"HERF stands for high energy radio frequency. A HERF gun is used to disrupt digital equipment such as computers by blasting them with HERF emissions.
A herf gun will typicaly cost around $150 to make, it is also generaly the size of the a backpack that can put out an impressive 16 megawatt pulse.
A HERF blast is a very high type of electromagnetic radiation that can do a considerable amount of damage to a PC. It can completely erase a hard disk, crash the PC and could even fuse the silicon barriers on the chips in the computer rendering it useless. Most electricl appliances are at risk to this type of attack, it is even possable to stall a car at a set of traffic ligths with a herf gun.
"

@ Bloodline

"...Since when has sock abuse been a crime?..."
-----------------------------------------------------------

No sir, it isn't a crime, but I was thinking of the repercussions should said sock be liberated from its hiding place at 30,000 feet and waved menacingly at the air-crew:

BLOODLINE: You all keep back now, I'm armed...do you hear? I've got a hard crusty sock and I know how to use it! You there! Stop looking at me or I'll dip this in your wine. Now these are my demands, and you better meet them or I'm going to start slapping you all with this...

STEWARD: Okay sir don't do anything rash now, we will comply. Can you please just stop waving that around? People remain calm...don't upset the man. We are going to have to divert now.
