Sorry no reply for so long. As I said, I don't frequent Amiga forums much anymore. I was trying to decide if I should use the guy's name or not, but what the hell...
He sent me two e-mails, both saying his name was Steve Perryman. He then paid me with a PayPal account from Steven Mattes. The PayPal e-mail address was buy@biditup.com. I ran a whois on biditup.com, and the registrant was Steven Mattes, and the address was the same address I was shipping to. I checked out the web site
www.biditup.com and couldn't figure out exactly what this alleged company does. It all seemed really hokey to me, but he had paid, and I didn't have anything concrete to go on. Incidentally, every Ebay transaction up until this point had gone smoothly for me. Also, the guy left me positive feedback. It wasn't until a month later that the charge was disputed. Oh, and I also shipped USPS with delivery confirmation.
So, conspiracy theorists...any ideas?
Paypal says they are conducting an investigation, and they will get back to me. The disclaimer is that if the credit card company honors the chargeback, PayPal will do nothing, even though they said that I qualify for their protecion plan. I may have to wait up to 70 days to find out. If I don't get my money back, my next question would be "just what am I paying PayPal for?"
