I'm beginning to wonder whether the post about alabama's marital aid ban has gotten Amiga.org banned from certain networks or workplaces.  I do know that some countries will intentionally censor their users, I just don't know if it's that area as well.

Well, until not so long ago "marital aids" as you called them had to be sold as "muscle massagers" in the UK.  They were fine about people selling them, you just couldn't say what they were really for in case you corrupted the customers minds!

Your friend could try something.. I don't know if Amiga has the same commands ?

Yeah, it has them...

If he opens a console (dos box, got to start -> run and type cmd) then he can try this command;

Ping www.amiga.org

or

tracert www.amiga.org

If the first one doesn't work and gives an error "request timed out" then tracert wil show where the time out occurs.

He and me can do that but we have to unblock ping returns from the ADSL modem/router.

If the first one gives the error "could not find host" or something with a dns failure, it's a problem with your providers DNS servers (or both you and your friend have set an incorrect DNS entry, but that would give more problems)

er.. no, this is not the case as the ADSL modem automatically detects the dns/ip configuration.. you don't have to mess with that.

a traceroute output could give us an idea of what's happening.. thanks 4 the advise.
