Prometheus with C= 030 card
« on: March 28, 2005, 07:14:04 PM »
Has anyone successfully used a Prometheus coupled with a C= EC030 CPU card in a desktop A4000?

I´ve got a few Prom´s but never tried them so far, but I don´t see why a Mediator would work but a Prometheus wouldn´t  :-)

A mediator wouldn't work because, afaik, it needs an MMU, and the C= 030 boards have 68EC030 chips on them, or mine does at least...

I could only get mine to work by disabling data caches.

And you were using an EC030 card in an A4k?

Yes, I was. Sorry, I should have been clearer.

YEEEEHAW! Thanks for that suggestion :-D. CPU nocache noburst did the trick. I'm posting this from my A4k, although I must say I had forgotten how horrible browsing was on the Amiga :-D.

I'll try to get the S3 gfx card working tomorrow.

Great! BTW, you can leave the instruction caches on: CPU NODATACACHE NODATABURST

Heh....my HD just decided to croak . It sounds like an espressomachine now :-).

I'll have to steal a HD from one of my PCs. I think I have a neat 1 gig thingy floating an a PentiumPro somewhere.
